Overview
Mtaani Help is a mobile marketplace that connects households with verified nannies.
It serves both clients seeking trusted childcare and service providers looking for reliable work, while addressing trust, verification, and inefficient offline hiring processes.
Problem
Hiring nannies is largely informal, fragmented, and trust-dependent, forcing families to rely on word of mouth with limited verification.
At the same time, qualified nannies struggle to access consistent job opportunities and fair visibility, resulting in mismatched expectations and wasted time on both sides.
Goals
Increase trust and confidence in the hiring process
Reduce friction in posting and applying for jobs
Ensure quality applications through verification gating
Monetize only after successful outcomes

Key Decisions
Introduced verification gating so nannies can browse jobs but apply only after approval
Deferred payment until hire confirmation to reduce upfront friction
Kept job posting free to encourage client adoption
Designed a flat, task-focused navigation to minimize cognitive load
Accepted lightweight KYC to balance trust with accessibility
Solution
The final solution is a streamlined marketplace experience where clients can post jobs for free, review verified applicants, and confirm hires through a one-time payment.
Nannies complete a lightweight onboarding and verification process before accessing and applying for jobs, ensuring trust and reducing low-quality applications.
(Final screens include: Nanny job feed, job details, apply confirmation, client job dashboard, applicants list, and hire confirmation.)

Impact
Expected outcomes:
Higher job completion rates through verification and clear status tracking
Reduced drop-off by introducing payment only at the point of value
Improved trust and decision-making for both clients and nannies
Reflection
The strongest outcome was balancing trust with accessibility while keeping the experience simple for both user types.
Given more time, I would validate the hire confirmation fee through usability testing and explore ways to further support long-term engagements.
